Enjoy its History
The great amount of prehistorical megalithic monuments and Iron Age settlements in the region, as well as the Roman remains of Viveiro and Area, are proof of how old the city is. Although the first documented references of the Vivarii land are dated in the year 857, its origin as a military and trade centre is thought to be between 1190 and 1210; during a period when commerce was reactivated in Atlantic Europe, once it had recovered from the attacks by the Normands and Muslims.
